GLOBAL STUDENT CENTRE
Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop
Solo project, completed as the Design & Marketing Coordinator at SFU International Services for Students
The Global Student Centre at Simon Fraser University is a space where students can create and share intercultural connections. They put on frequent intercultural events for students connect with one another. I was tasked with the responsibility of creating promotional materials like posters for all of the events to be viewed around the campus and on their social media pages.
REQUEST & IDEATION
The process of creating the posters starts from a request from the Global Student Centre Coordinator. The requests are usually very general; the name of the event, date, time, location and a brief description of the activities. From there, I brainstorm a couple of initial sketches of what I think will look appealing as a poster.

From those initial sketches, I either pick one that I think is the strongest and develop it further in Illustrator, or if time permits, I mockup more than one sketch so the Coordinator has some to choose from.
Sometimes the Coordinator will request small changes to the poster like adding more text or updating event details, so I continue making changes until they're happy with the poster.

Since there isn't a specific look for the posters that I have to follow, I got the chance to be more creative with my designs and experiment with different styles. Having this experience has really further developed my skills in Illustrator, especially with making vector illustrations.
